The U.S. Department of State, in partnership with WildAid, has produced three television public service announcements (PSAs) to combat wildlife trafficking featuring renowned actor Harrison Ford. More than 30 U.S. embassies in all regions of the world will showcase the PSAs in a global launch beginning June 5, World Environment Day. The ads will also be broadcast globally on television and cable stations.
International conservation organization, WildAid and leading Chinese internet company, Tencent, today announced the formal signing of a strategic partnership agreement to promote wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
Resorts World at Sentosa (RWS) today launched a fund to sponsor research, education and conservation efforts related to marine life, to further the marine conservation cause. The RWS Marine Life Fund will dispatch up to SGD$100,000 each year in 2008 and 2009 and up to SGD$1 million each year from 2010 when the Resort opens.
International conservation group WildAid and the Singapore Environment Council today launched a new report and public service campaign to raise the alarm that sharks continued to be slaughtered in vast numbers to supply shark fin soup. Analysis of trade data indicated that fins from between 40 to 70 million sharks are being used annually for soup.
