HONG KONG – Chinese Arts & Crafts (H.K.) Ltd. (CAC), Hong Kong’s largest ivory retailer, stopped selling elephant ivory according to a statement issued to Reuters today and verified by spot checks by WildAid. The chain, which operates four stores in Hong Kong, stated to the media that it now only sells mammoth ivory. WildAid consultants visited the stores and confirmed that all elephant ivory has been removed from shelves, is not mis-selling it as mammoth ivory, and is not for sale “under the counter.”
NBA Cares, the National Basketball Association’s (NBA) global social responsibility program, and WildAid are launching ‘No Hype,’ a new message to reduce demand for ivory and rhino horn. The message includes six NBA players: Pau Gasol of the Los Angeles Lakers, Tyson Chandler of the New York Knicks, Al Horford of the Atlanta Hawks, Serge Ibaka and Thabo Sefolosha of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and Joakim Noah of the Chicago Bulls.

Signatories and fellow CPPCC members include Wang Wenjing (Chairman and CEO of Yonyou Software), Liu Jun (Chairman of Eagle International Holdings), Xu Shaochun (Founder of Kingdee Software), Zhu Xinli (Chairman of China Huiyuan Juice Co.), and Yu Minhong (Founder of New Oriental Education).
