Delegate Mark Sickles (D-Franconia) introduced a bill before the Virginia General Assembly that would ban the sale and possession of shark fin products within the state.  

Meanwhile, Rep. Sara Feigenholtz (D-Chicago) introduced a similar ban for the state of Illinois.   

Shark fin bans have been enacted in the states of Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, and California - but this would be the first such ban on the East Coast.
