Last month, aerial studies conducted by scientists revealed devastating coral bleaching in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef due to record-breaking temperatures this year caused by climate change.

Four more Chinese airlines ban shark fin

Responding to concern from conservationists, another major Chinese airline group has agreed not to transport shark fin products on its flights.

Worldwide, nearly 60 airlines and container shipping companies have adopted policies against the carriage of shark fins. In China, Hainan Airlines remains the only major national carrier yet to put in place a fin ban.

Major Chinese airline prohibits shark fin cargo

China Southern Airlines has banned transport of shark fin shipments on board its flights, according to a new company sustainability policy. 

The announcement comes in response to a January letter to the airline sent by WildAid on behalf of a large coalition of concerned environmental groups.
