| WildAid believes that trade in endangered species exists because people are willing to buy the products. Scientific study, field protection, new laws and controls play vital roles in stopping the trade; our program in the Galapagos reflects this need. But the unsustainable trade will only end when the demand stops. WildAid is working to simultaneously lower demand for unsustainable wildlife trade and build political will and action to stop the trade. With international celebrities as spokespeople, we are eliminating the social status that drives demand for wildlife products—with quantified impacts on that demand. That success and the public attention from celebrity endorsements allows us to catalyze national and multilateral action to improve enforcement. |
